Design Thoughts: The only design element used in this image is alignment. All other adjustments were made for clarity of the image and to adjust the highlights and shadows.
I chose to leave the sun rays in the upper left hand corner as an artistic element (light from above shining down on the temple). I did, however, remove a couple of the sun spots that were in the center of the image.
Alignment: I used the crop tool to straighten the image. This helped align the different details in the image. It also made the lines in the temple more pronounced.
